We are based in the beautiful countryside of Ewell Minnis, just outside of Dover, Kent. We have a purpose built hydrotherapy clinic which has a state-of-the-art Hydro Physio 200 Aquatic Treadmill. This is specifically designed for canine rehabilitation and provides a controlled environment where specific joints, range of motion (either flexion or extension) or muscle groups may be targeted during exercise.
The Canine Hydrotherapy Association (CHA) is a UK based organisation who set, maintain and regulate professional standards in hydrotherapy. As members of the CHA we are governed by their Code of Conduct and are required to operate within these industry standards.
Veterinary Referral
Dogs are only treated on Veterinary referral. This ensures that a qualified Veterinary Surgeon has agreed that the patient is in a good enough state of health to safely undergo hydrotherapy. It also means that an accurate diagnosis of any condition being treated is known to the us, together with details of the treatment, surgical procedure and medication whenever relevant.
Treatment Records
An audit trail of the dog’s treatment and progress is kept. The referring Vet is regularly updated with the dog’s progress.
Water Quality and Management
At Chapel Canine the Aquatic Treadmill is heated to a therapeutic 30 degrees. The water is constantly heated and filtered, and is sanitised using chlorine. The water is tested 3 times a day using a digital photometer and accurate records are kept. The chemical level is closely monitored and adjusted to ensure that the water is free from bacteria, virus and harmful micro-organisms, yet at an acceptable level to ensure the safety of the dogs and clients.
Professional Staff
There is always a trained animal first aider and trained hydrotherapist in attendance at every session.
Up to date training ensures that we have the latest relevant skills and knowledge in order to provide the best and most effective treatment.
We have a formalised emergency procedure in place and have links to a local vet practice that provide 24 hour emergency care.
This includes; Public Liability, Employers liability and Professional Indemnity which also covers the animals being treated.
