Animals, just like humans, can suffer from back, neck, pelvic and musculoskeletal problems and can benefit from McTimoney chiropractic manipulation. Trauma is the most obvious cause, such as accidents, collisions and falls. More subtle causes are conformation defects and excess weight and even dental problems. This can cause loss of mobility, pain, stiffness, lack of performance and behavioural changes.
The McTimoney chiropractic method has been helping animals for over forty years. It is a non-invasive holistic technique which does not involve the use of drugs, and most animals accept this quite readily.
Chiropractic manipulation aligns and balances the animal's musculoskeletal system. By manipulating any misaligned joints throughout the whole body, with special attention to the spine and pelvis, it helps to both restore and maintain health, soundness and performance.
Common symptoms seen in dogs may include;
- Lameness following a fall, accident or other trauma
- Stiffness or pain during or after exercise
- Crying out when getting up
- Difficulty climbing stairs or getting into cars
- Limb-dragging or odd, irregular action
- Reluctance to exercise
- Postural or behavioural changes
- Signs of discomfort when being stroked along the back
- Reduced performance in working dogs
- Absence of any resolution to the problem using conventional methods
